His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam, on Monday received in audience His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia.
Before this, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, as personal representative of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam; and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman were at The Empire Brunei to welcome His Majesty the King of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia and subsequently proceeded together with His Majesty the King of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia to Istana Nurul Iman.
Also present at The Empire Brunei were His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, as Royal-in Attendance and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah binti Pengiran Haji Bolkiah.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha welcomed the arrival of His Majesty the King of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia on the grounds of Istana Nurul Iman.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri, together with His Majesty the King of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia, then proceeded to the Special Dais to receive the Salute of Honour, accompanied by the national anthems of both countries and a twenty-one gun salute. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Majesty the King of Malaysia then inspected the Guard of Honour mounted by members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The State Welcoming Ceremony continued with His Majesty the King of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia being introduced to members of the Royal Family; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria; Speaker of the Legislative Council; Cabinet Ministers; Members of the Privy Council; Deputy Ministers; the Commissioner of Police of the Royal Brunei Police Force; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Foreign Envoys in Brunei Darussalam; Members of the Legislative Council; and Permanent Secretaries from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and their spouses.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha were then introduced to members of the delegation of His Majesty the King of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia.
Following the State Welcoming Ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, together with His Majesty the King of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia proceeded to Cheradi Laila Kenchana, Istana Nurul Iman for the Audience Ceremony.
Present at the Audience Ceremony were members of the Royal Family. Accompanying His Majesty the King of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia was Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj ibni Sultan Ibrahim.
The enduring close relationship between the Royal Families of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia is evident by the attendance of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha at the Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia as Yang di-Pertuan Agong on 20th July 2024, which took place in Kuala Lumpur.
In addition, His Majesty the King of Malaysia frequently makes goodwill visits to Brunei Darussalam as well as attends the Conferment Ceremonies of State Decorations, further enhancing the bond between the two Royal Families.
