The Ministry of Health (MoH) organised a briefing on the 3rd National Health and Nutritional Status Survey at the Temburong District Office’s Muafakat Hall in Pekan Bangar on Saturday.
The ministry’s Medical Officer Dr Zalena binti Haji Ahmad delivered the briefing, attended by 14 people comprising penghulus and village heads in the district as well as MoH officials and staff.
The survey serves to ascertain the prevalence and trends of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as well as the risk factors among the people and residents of the Sultanate, especially risk factors related to nutrition.
It contains two phases: the first phase from October 2022 until January 2023, focussing on the common risk factors among adults aged between 18 to 69; and the second phase, from February to May 2023, targetting issues related to children and pregnant women’s health.
Trained researchers will visit selected houses nationwide to interview family members and carry out inspections.
Public members selected for the survey are requested to cooperate to make the research a success and hopefully, help the ministry in preventing premature deaths due to NCDs.
