Despite Team Indah Damai Restaurant’s best effort to narrow the gap, Team T Best Company swept the court clean, closing the finals as champion of the Aewon Basketball Challenge Cup 2022 with a 10-point lead on Tuesday night.

Held at the New Village Mutual Aid Association Basketball Court in Seria, the cup was organised by the Belait District Basketball Association (BDBA) in conjunction with the 76th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, with Aewon Brunei and You-C1000 as sponsors.

Mukim Seria Acting Penghulu and Kampong Lorong Tiga Selatan Seria Village Head cum guest of honour Haji Saidin bin Haji Ibrahim was welcomed upon arrival by BDBA Chairman Koo Kong Loi.

Team T Best Company swung hard in the first quarter, with a 12-point lead against Team Indah Damai Restaurant.

While Team Indah Damai Restaurant was able to close the gap in the second quarter, with the point lead gained by Team T Best Company in the first quarter lowered to a mere three points, the number 2 player of T Best Company Ahmad Termizi bin Haji Noordeen scored several crucial three-pointers, reclaiming control of the match in the third quarter.

The guest of honour awarded prizes to the winning teams. Additionally, a special MVP (Most Valuable Player) trophy was handed to former national basketball player Ahmad Termizi, whose performance led his team to victory.

Ahmad Termizi said, “We hung in there. Team Indah Damai Restaurant’s players were bigger. We struggled in the first half, but we were able to finally adjust our strategy and take the lead.”
