Team Sadiya emerged champion of the Converts Hijrah Quiz for 1446 Hijrah finals recently, winning themselves a BND1,500 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate.
Team Fathiya placed second, received a BND1,200 cash prize, followed by Team Qaisarah in third receiving BND900 and each winners receive trophies and certificates. Five consolation winners each received prizes, trophies and certificates.
Eight teams competed in the preliminary rounds on November 21 and 22 – Team Ahlam, Team Qaisarah, Team Mumtazah, Team Sadiya, Team Qaisar, Team Mujtahid, Team Fathiya and Team Rafiqul ‘ala. The competition was held at the DiGadong Hall at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The competition served as part of glorifying celebrations of major events in the Islamic calendar, to increase knowledge and understanding on Islam, strengthen appreciation of religion among converts as well as upgrading digital skills and literacy among the converts.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, the guest of honour, presented prizes to the winners. The competition was organised by the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI), the Ministry of Religious Affairs in collaboration with Radio Television Brunei, supported by Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB).
Certificates were contributed by PDI while the cash prizes were contributed by BIBD. – Lyna Mohamad
