Tausyeh competition enlivens royal birthday celebration

Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic School emerged as the champion in the male category of 15th Tausyeh Competition for Secondary Schools and Colleges nationwide while the female category was won by Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School.

The competition aimed to enliven the atmosphere of the 77th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The competition organised by the Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Spiritual Activities Division, Department of Co-Curriculum Education, was held at the festive stage near the Royal Regalia Museum.

Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) and Ma’had Islam Brunei placed second and third in the male category.

Meanwhile, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School took second place in the female category and ITQSHHB finished in third place.

Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education Department Julaihi bin Haji Mohamad/Mohamat presented the prizes.

The competition was open to students in government and private secondary schools under the purview of the MoE and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Thirteen male teams and 16 female teams participated in the preliminary stage.

The event served to strengthen the love for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) through the mastery of Dikir Dabaie and Tausyeh as well as answer the call towards a Zikir nation, said the organiser. – James Kon
