Some 80 kilogrammes of chicken parts were seized by the Halal Food Control Division of the Syariah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) during a joint operation in Kampong Sungai Tilong on Thursday.
Acting on a public tip-off, the operation, which also involved the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED), targetted a residential area in Kampong Sungai Tilong, where enforcement officers found chicken parts suspected to have no halal import permit inside a house.
The MoRA reminded companies importing halal meat into the Sultanate to obtain the halal import permit from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, and adhere to requirements from other agencies, to guarantee the safety and halal status of food items.
