Sultan takes closer look at religious, general education integration

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made an unscheduled visit to the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and Pulaie Primary School yesterday.

Upon arrival at the MoRA, His Majesty was greeted by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof; Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman; and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh.

Afterwards, His Majesty drove to Pulaie Primary School to take a closer look at the integration of religious subjects with the general education system and observe the facilities and infrastructure for the integration.

More than 100 Pulaie Primary School students from pre-school up to Primary 3 of the religious school were involved in the newly implemented integration system.

The integration only involves pre-school level to Primary 3 students in religious schools. The students will continue religious education in primary schools. Hours for the new system is from 7.30am to noon and 1.30pm to 3pm. – Rokiah Mahmud
