    Sultan receives in audience outgoing Malaysian Chief of Defence Force

    His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Wednesday received in audience Chief of Defence Force of the Malaysian Armed Forces General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad bin Ab. Rahman. The Audience Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

    Accompanying  General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad were Chargé d’Affaires, High Commission of Malaysia in Bandar Seri Begawan Mrs Nur Ezira Mahadi, and Senior Officials from the Malaysian Armed Forces.

    His Majesty receives a ‘pesambah’ from Chief of Defence Force of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

    Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia enjoy strong and cordial bilateral diplomatic relations, with defence cooperation formally established through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation on 14 February 1992. Various bilateral defence collaborations such as Joint Defence Working Committee meetings, joint military exercises, and training programs have been developed, as has multilateral cooperation particularly within the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) which reaffirms the commitment of both countries to the peace of neighbouring countries as well as regional security cooperation.

    This visit marks the Farewell Visit of General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohammad to Brunei Darussalam. He is the 22nd Chief of Defence Force of the Malaysian Armed Forces and will conclude his service and handover the reins of the highest leadership of the Malaysian Armed Forces on Friday, 31 January 2025. His delegation are in Brunei Darussalam from Jan 21 to 22.
