Muiz Omarali yesterday emerged as the champion in the grand finale of the sim racing competition, ‘The New X2: Race to the Future’ with the best lap time of 1:24.832.
Three finalists competed at QAF Auto Sdn Bhd for the best time on the sim racing track following the launch of the new BMW X2.
Second place went to Ashwin Rana with the best lap time of 1:25.660 while Kee Zen Foong had to settle for third place with the best lap time of 1:27.095.
QAF Auto Head of Sales Luqman Hakim bin Abdullah presented the prizes. In an interview, Muiz Omarali thanked QAF Auto for organising the competition and hoped that such competitions will promote and develop the sim racing community in the Sultanate.
He said, “I am happy to win the competition, I came in second during the qualifying and managed to get first place in the grand final which is unexpected.”
He added, “Recently I have been busy and I haven’t played much of sim racing games. I did a couple of sessions before heading to Apex Racing Sdn Bhd, Kampong Kiulap to try my luck and I scored the second best result to get into the grand finale.”
The New X2: Race to the Future, organised by QAF Auto with cooperation from Apex Racing, was held from July 12 to 21 at Apex Racing, Kampong Kiulap. – James Kon
