Industry and Business Ecosystem Division’s (IBE) Weights and Measures Unit (SDT) and Department of Economic Planning and Statistics’ (JPES) Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) unearthed several violations during a joint operation at Seria, Belait District recently.

SDT enforcers inspected 17 weighing machines and found one not registered with the unit.

The company was issued a seizure notice and required to rectify the issue within seven working days. The weighing machine was confiscated.

JPES officers issued four warnings and a BND500 fine to retailers selling price controlled items above the maximum price and failing to display prices.

The operation was held to ensure businesses’ weighing and measuring equipment are registered and verified; ensuring price-controlled items are sold below price ceiling; and prices are clearly displayed and not misleading.
