Some 27 Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officers (EDPSGO) participants visited the Department of Councils of State at the Legislative Council (LegCo) building yesterday.
The visitors comprised senior government officials undergoing executive development programme at the Civil Service Institute (IPA).
The visit was aimed at providing the visitors exposure, information and knowledge about the department, particularly the LegCo meeting.
Acting Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Acting Clerk to Councils Dr Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah welcomed the visitors. She said visits like this are important in knowing about the LegCo meeting proceedings.
The Attorney General’s Chambers briefed on Brunei Darussalam’s Constitution focusing on the provisions pertaining to the Privy Council, Cabinet Ministers’ Council and LegCo meeting.
It continued with a briefing by the Department of Councils of State on LegCo’s functions and background as well as procedures and processes in approving a bill.
The visitors participated in a simulation of approving a bill and then toured the LegCo Chamber. – Rokiah Mahmud
