There are many parties responsible for executing amanah (trust) in defending and maintaining the Islamic identity, especially in the challenging modern world.
Families, Dai’e, social media and higher learning institutions hold such responsibility in upholding the Islamic identity. Thus, the approach and understanding need to be emphasised to ensure the sustainability of the country.
This was said by Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Dean of Faculty of Arabic Language Dr Hajah Rafidah binti Haji Abdullah in her welcoming remarks during a virtual seminar on ‘Reconstructing Islamic Identity Through language, Literature and History’ recently.
The seminar, organised in collaboration between UNISSA’s Faculty of Arabic Language and the Faculty of Civilisation and Human Science of Islamic University of Negeri Sunan Ampel, Surabaya, was attended by 132 participants, comprising academics, students and scholars from both universities.
Dean of Faculty of Civilisation and Human Science of Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Dr H Mohammad Kurjum M Ag was also in attendance.
MA from Islamic University of Negeri Sunan Ampel Professor Dr Imam Ghazali, UNISSSA Faculty of Arabic Language Dr Achmad Yani and Walailak University, Thailand Dr Abdul Razak Abdulroya Panaemalae were featured at the event as speakers.
The international seminar served as a platform to exchange ideas among participants and forge closer ties.
