The three-day semi-final round of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1445 Hijrah commenced at the International Convention Centre yesterday. The semi-finals feature 21 contestants – 17 males and four females.
The morning session was attended by Head of Policy, Planning and Research at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Pengiran Anak Dr Haji Amiruddin Alam Shah bin Pengiran Anak Haji Ismail while the afternoon session had Acting Director of Mosque Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri in attendance. This year’s semi-final comprises 52 participants, with 32 advancing from the preliminary round. Nine participants were finalists from last year’s national Al-Quran reading competition and 11 contestants achieved scores of 80 per cent or higher for three consecutive years in the semi-finals.
The announcement of the Al-Quran reading competition finalists is scheduled for Thursday.
