Self-reflect and overcome shortfalls, Muslims told

Azlan Othman

With 12 days away from ushering in the new year, Muslims were told to self-reflect on what they have done in the past 12 months and assess and overcome any shortfalls.

This was highlighted by Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) Officer Mohammad Nasyith bin Superi from RPN Kampong Mata-Mata Mosque, Gadong during a religious talk at the weekly Munajat night on Saturday.

He said, “When striving to change for the better, an individual must change for Allah the Almighty who opens up a pathway, facilitates such transition and gives extraordinary strength.

“The question is whether we are prepared to change or one is still in doubt whether to make such changes or not. We should ask ourselves if we wish to be like before and resist changes.”

On Saturday, the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) organised the Munajat night for the 66th time.

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan also participated with the congregants. Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim led the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah.

PDI Head of Muslim Converts Development Pengiran Haji Jufri bin Pengiran Haji Hidop led the delegation.

Participants from nearly 100 mosques, suraus and religious halls and the workforce at the MoRA and their family members also participated.

The recitation of Surah Yaasiin was led by a Higher National Technical Education Certificate IT student Muhammad Qamarul Hamizan bin Minor Absah, along with staff and students of IBTE Sultan Bolkiah Campus in Seria while Doa Munajat was read by the Principal of Bandar Seri Begawan Arabic Preparatory School Pengiran Hasinol Zamri bin Pengiran Haji Piut.
