Scouts delegation attends Philippine conference

The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) delegation attended the 19th ASEAN Scouts Association for Regional Cooperation (ASARC) Conference in Manila, the Philippines from October 4 to 6, hosted by Boy Scouts of the Philippines.

The delegation was led by PPNBD President Dato Paduka Ar Haji Idris bin Haji Abas.

The conference discussed the direction, progress and continuity of the Scouts movement at the ASEAN level.

PPNBD Chief Commissioner Haji Junaidi bin Haji Hussin and Acting Headquarter Commissioner for Media and Information Technology Muhammad Arman Jahran bin Abdullah Besi joined the delegation.

ASARC is inspired and formulated from the ASEAN spirit, as stated in the ASEAN Charter, it upholds the integrity and wisdom of ASEAN in enhancing friendship and brotherhood as well as fostering cooperation among Scouts associations in ASEAN member countries.

To achieve the outcomes, concerted efforts among member countries are needed to ensure appropriate activities and maximum participation at every conceivable level.

The establishment of ASARC aims to promote and enhance cooperation, brotherhood, and unity for ASEAN by working closely together in coordinating efforts and programmes for the benefit of the people, especially among the youth, strengthening cooperation between ASEAN member countries based on scout principles and the ASEAN Charter, to support the development and promotion of Scouting in ASEAN member countries, and to address relevant Scouting issues. – Rokiah Mahmud
