The Brunei-Muara District Scouts Association (PPDBM) hosted an appreciation ceremony for leaders and adult scouts of the association for the 2021-2024 session yesterday. The ceremony was held at a hotel in Kampong Kiulap.
It began with the recitation of Doa led by Skip Haji Md Arif bin Haji Nordin, followed by welcoming remarks from Brunei Muara District Scout Commissioner and Chairperson of the ceremony Skip Haji Samsuddin bin Haji Ahmad.
Chief Commissioner of Scouts of Brunei Darussalam Skip Haji Junaidi bin Haji Hussin was the guest of honour. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of unity and cooperation among scout members to ensure the success of various scouting
activities.
He also urged that scouting activities be diversified in line with current trends, such as fishing, glamping and other suitable activities. He also called on all parties to increase efforts in increasing scout membership in Brunei Darussalam to ensure the continuity and effectiveness of the scouting movement.
The ceremony then continued with the presentation of the certificate of appreciation and letter of appointment for the Brunei-Muara District Scout Council, presented by the guest of honour. This was followed by the presentation of certificates and souvenirs to leaders and adult scouts by Skip Haji Samsuddin.
Also presented was a souvenir in the form of a book written by Skip Haji Domeng bin Haji Abdul Wahab, which was presented to the PPDBM as a token of appreciation and remembrance.
Yesterday’s ceremony was a recognition of the dedication and contribution of leaders and adult scouts in advancing the scouting movement at the district level throughout the 2021-2024 session. – Lyna Mohamad
