Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee recently applauded educational institutions, such as Chung Hwa School Kiudang (CHSK), for taking steps to empower students through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) education.
The LegCo member said it during a Stick’Em STEAM Workshop organised by the school in the Tutong District.
“The skills and knowledge gained through these disciplines are invaluable in preparing the youth for a bright future,” said Yang Berhormat Chong, who is a strong advocate of STEAM education.
The LegCo members also praised the school for providing quality education and hosting an event that promotes innovation and creativity among its students.
Chung Hwa School Kiudang Principal Loo Shee Yun meanwhile highlighted the significance of STEAM education in preparing individuals to tackle the challenges of the future.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Stick’Em Singapore Chong Ing Kai facilitated both the morning and afternoon sessions, where he demonstrated how the fusion of art and technology could make STEAM subjects engaging and accessible. His presentations, combined with hands-on activities, enabled students to explore Stick’Em’s creative platform and its applications in real-world scenarios.
For teachers, Chong provided tips on how STEAM education can be more interactive and interesting for the students.
The morning session was attended by 26 Year 4-6 students and four teachers.
