“In June 2022, we organised our first ever charity golf tournament for Fund for Orphans (DANA) Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah untuk Anak-Anak Yatim. The main objective was not only to commemorate our silver jubilee anniversary, but also to help raise funds for orphans in Brunei,” said Bright Jigsaw International School (BJIS) Principal Shazwani binti Haji Shahibulbahri during the wheelkathon and carnival charity event for Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam at the Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

“The event was a success and public response was overwhelm-ing with 125 participating in the tournament. The proceeds from the tournament will be donated to DANA.

“Today, we are organising another charity event called BJIS’ Silver Jubilee Walkathon for Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam. The event was supposed to take place last year. However, we were not able to hold it due to the second COVID-19 wave in the country,” said Shazwani. Sunday’s event was joined by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar as the guest of honour.

Also present were senior officials from the Ministry of Health, students and parents.

BJIS Managing Director Haji Sambas bin Haji Bagol, Pusat Ehsan Senior Trustee Dato Paduka Haji Alimin bin Haji Abdul Wahab and other guests also attended.

The event’s aim was to raise funds for Pusat Ehsan and mark BJIS’ silver jubilee. After signing of the Lambaran Kenangan, the minister joined the warm-up session and the kick-off of the Wheelkathon.

The public participated in a 2.4-kilometre (km) walkathon and 11.5km cycling.
