Seri Mulia Sarjana International School (SMSIS) Early Years recently held an event to celebrate cultural diversity.
Themed ‘Who We Are’, the event saw SMSIS preschoolers dressed in traditional attire representing their unique backgrounds. They explored traditional delicacies from countries such as India, Malaysia and Myanmar, while learning about traditional costumes from various cultures.
The engaging activity aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by fostering inclusive and equitable learning experiences, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, by promoting respect and appreciation for diverse cultures.
It is hoped that the initiative will help young learners develop a deeper understanding of the similarities and differences among their peers, nurturing a sense of global citizenship and empathy. – Lyna Mohamad
