A team of firefighters doused an electrical fire at Mentiri Religious School within 15 minutes of receiving a distress call at 12.38pm on Thursday.
ASO Haji Mohd Yusri bin Haji Bangok led a team of 11 firefighters from Mentiri Fire Station Operation Branch ‘A’ in handling the incident, the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) said.
The team used fire extinguishers to douse the flames on the main electric panel on the lower level of Block C.
Mentiri Fire Station Commander Pengiran Haji Ali Abdul Rahman bin Pengiran Haji Halus was also present. The estimated cost and cause of the fire are under investigation.
In light of the incident, the FRD reminded the public to ensure their homes are equipped with dry powder fire extinguishers, fire blankets and battery-operated smoke detectors.
Additionally, the installation of wiring and electrical equipment should be carried out by qualified technicians, while electrical appliances must be switched off after use, the FRD said.
