Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd (BSM) held safety timeout sessions with Shell retail stations nationwide throughout the month to emphasise the importance of refuelling compliance process.

“Service champions play a significant role in keeping the community safe whenever they refuel at any Shell retail stations,” BSM Head of Retail Haji Shahruddin Haji Abdul Wahid told the media at Hajah Dayang Badariah retail station in Kampong Katok yesterday. He said that service champions’ role is to ensure the process of refuelling or the use of approved containers during, before and after it is up to standard for everyone’s safety.

However, Haji Shahruddin said that being safe at Shell retail stations is not limited to service champions but the public as well. “Compliance to the safety rules and regulations will ensure the safety of everyone around us at the stations,” said Haji Shahruddin.

BSM has run safety campaigns to educate the public about safety at Shell retail stations through the annual ‘Fill Safe, Feel Safe’ campaign where the public is reminded of the mandatory safety practices.

BSM reminded that it is vital for the public to comply with the safety practices and follow instructions given by their service champions before the refuelling process. “Service champions will not serve customers who do not comply with these safety practices,” Haji Shahruddin said.

The public is urged to seek the assistance of service champions when unsure of the safety practices at Shell retail stations.

The public can call BSM call centre at 2244739 if they witness or observe any non-compliant or unsafe behaviour at the stations.

“Safety at Shell retail stations is paramount and both service champions and the public are responsible to ensure they do their part,” said Haji Shahruddin.
