The establishment of the steering committee for the 77th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is to monitor and ensure that plans and programmes proposed will be smooth-sailing before being brought to the national committee.
This was said by Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman chairing the first meeting of the National Committee for His Majesty’s 77th birthday celebration at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday.
He said a series of steering committee and working committee meetings have discussed preparation details that need to be carried out early. “Respective permanent secretaries will brief regarding the preparations which have been arranged by each appointed working committee,” he added.
He also thanked the spirit of close cooperation and unity by government and the private sector including school students.
“Such high commitment has demonstrated our undivided love and loyalty to His Majesty, who loves, care and concerned about the well-being of his citizen.”
The meeting discussed preparation reports on the events under His Majesty’s 77th birthday celebration – installations of decorative arches, lights and banners, the flag hoisting and lowering ceremonies, mass Maghrib and Isyak prayers, the recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran ceremony, ceremonial parade, the publication of Buku Dirgahayu, blessing ceremony and handing over souvenir to babies born on July 15, the get-together events, the 77-times Khatam Al-Quran of mukim and village consultative council and students, regatta, the Knowledge Convention and the Royal Birthday Cycling Recreation 2023.
Also present at the meeting were Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Grand Chamberlain Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force, commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, district officers, acting district officers, president of chamber of commences and government senior officers who are members of the National Committee for His Majesty’s 77th birthday celebration.
