The National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1444 Hijrah continued yesterday with three Qari and three Qariah at the Muzakarah Hall, International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik graced the event.
His Royal Highness was accompanied by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman as the competition Chairman; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof; Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar; and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Suhaili bin Haji Mohiddin.
The competing Qari and Qariah on the second night of the competition were Awangku Adi Nazri bin Pengiran Haji Jofri, Dayangku Nurul Sakinah Adawiyah binti Pengiran Ainolazahar, and Ashizal bin Zainal Abidin.
Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School students performed Selawat al-Fatih, followed by Al-Quran recitations by three participants – Hajah Nurfaezah binti Haji Emran, Pengiran Muhammad Amirul Aiman bin Pengiran Haji Marjuki, and Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri.
The competition continues today with the announcement of the winners. The ceremony will start at 7.15pm. – Adib Noor
