Some 60 members of the Rotary Club of Belait (RCB), with local residents, held a walkathon to mark World Polio Day at Anduki Recreational Park yesterday.
Organising chairperson Helen Tang said the battle against polio by Rotarians across the world has been ongoing for more than 30 years. “The effort to eliminate polio starts not only in raising awareness but also to support initiatives that can lead to the prevention and treatment of other diseases,” she added.
After the walkathon, participants enjoyed games and activities along with food and drinks served at the end of the event.
Rotary Club Assistant Governor of District 3310 Jimmy Chung and RCB President Henrietta Hiew were present at the event.
