A Khatam Al-Quran, Ratib Al-Attas and Selawat Tafrijiyyah ceremony was held at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital yesterday in conjunction with the 54th anniversary of Bandar Brunei’s renaming to Bandar Seri Begawan.
Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman attended as the guest of honour.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Khatam Al-Quran led by Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) student Zainal Mustapa bin Jaluddin.
Subsequently, Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque officer Begawan Mudim Haji Amran bin Haji Mohd Salleh recited the takhtim and Doa Al-Quran.
The religious event continued with the recitation of Ratib Al-Attas, followed by Dikir Marhaban.
Shortly after, Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Supervisor Zulkifli bin Haji Murat led the Doa Kesyukuran, commemorating the 54th anniversary of Bandar Brunei’s renaming.
The event concluded with the recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah and mass Asar prayer.
Some 897 attendees, including government officials, private sector employees, students from ITQSHHB and Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah representatives, as well as community groups, participated in the event. – Fadhil Yunus
