A Doa Kesyukuran ceremony and presentation of certificates for the Standard Arabic Speaking Skills Assessment and Evaluation programme were held at Parkview Hotel, Jerudong yesterday.
The project was implemented by the Department of the Directorate General of the Human Resources Development, Oman’s Ministry of Education to communicate in Fushah Arabic among teaching staff in its ministry.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman was the guest of honour.
The event began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a speech from Head of the Ta’zeez Al-Lughah Al-’Arabiah Bil Madaris Al-’Arabiah Programme Unit Dr Hajah Norasimah binti Haji Latip, the event’s co-chairperson.
There was also a video presentation and a presentation of certificates to officers of Oman’s Ministry of Education as well as participating students and teachers.
The programme’s goal is to identify the needs of the upcoming training programme as well as improve the level of Fushah Arabic language skills among teachers and students in Arabic schools. In addition, the programme also aimed to assess the ability of the students trained in the programme in terms of speaking skills in the classroom.
Students from Arabic schools and Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute Tahfiz Al-Quran attended an online Fushah Arabic communication course from May 7 to July 2.
Earlier, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin received a courtesy visit from Advisor to Oman’s Minister of Education and Head of the Office of the Minister of Education Dr Saeed Saif Salim Al Amer at Parkview Hotel, Jerudong.
Ambassador of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Erma Said Mohamed Al Kathiry and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan were also present.
Dr Saeed Saif Salim Al Amer was in the Sultanate as the general supervisor of a cultural cooperation programme between Oman and Brunei from November 20-27. – Azlan Othman
