Religious ceremony held ahead of 10th convocation ceremony

Some 722 prospective Politeknik Brunei (PB) graduates participated in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Mosque on Thursday. The religious event marked the lead-up to the institution’s 10th convocation ceremony.

A total of 365 male and 407 female students joined the ceremony.

Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad was the guest of honour. Senior officials from PB, including the acting director, assistant directors, and both teaching and non-teaching staff, were also present.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Dr Haji Azman. Participants recited Takhtim. Md Akmal Hadif bin Md Shah @ Md Lutfi Hadi, a future graduate of the Level 5 Digital Media programme, led the Khatam prayer while UBD Mosque Imam Pengiran Naseruddin bin Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar delivered the closing Doa. The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Dikir Marhaban.

Organised by PB’s General Studies Division, the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony underscores the institution’s commitment to Al-Quran as a foundation of knowledge. The event is an annual tradition leading up to PB’s convocation.

Politeknik Brunei’s 10th convocation ceremony will be held on October 24 at the International Convention Centre in Berakas. A total of 882 graduates will receive their Level 5 diploma certificates during the event. – Fadley Faisal
