Mohd Rusydi bin Haji Morsidi, 28, who was among the 23 donors at the event themed ‘Gift of Blood, Gift of Life’, said he donates blood every two months to help those in need of blood.
Mohd Rusydi said he began donating five years ago after learning about the health benefits of donating blood and being inspired by blood donor friend.
Recalling his first time donating blood, he said he was not fond of needles but after going through it, he felt alright and did not find it painful. Progresif Sdn Bhd and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital Blood Donation Centre organised the blood donation campaign yesterday.
Twenty-six-year-old Arif bin Walli a first-time donor, said he read that donating blood regularly lowers blood pressure and the risk of a heart attack.
Arif said he was nervous at first when he saw the needle but found out soon after that it was not painful, which he likened to an ant bite.
He said he had wanted to donate blood for quite some time, after learning that his blood type, B positive, is in demand. Arif pledged to donate blood again. – James Kon
