Re-opening of exhibition gallery with new special collections

The public will have the opportunity to see special collections at nine exhibition galleries of Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (BKISHHB) following its re-opening on December 12.

BKISHHB Acting Director Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Haji Ahmad told a press conference yesterday, the re-opening of the galleries is part of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s manifestation in preserving the heritage (khazanah) of Islamic scholars by escalating its development through collection and preservation activites, exhibitions, research, dissemination, studies, sharing the progress of Islamic development as well as to serve as a One-Stop Islamic Tourism Destination platform.

The acting director also shared that there are nine exhibition galleries at BKISHHB including ‘Kebestarian Raja’, ‘Mushaf’, ‘Rambut Mulia Rasulullah SAW’, ‘Athar Sahabat’, ‘Warisan Ilmu 1’, ‘Warisan Ilmu 2’, ‘Tanda-tanda Kebesaran Allah’, ‘Astronomi and Kesenian Islam’, and ‘Tongkat & Tasbih’.

In conjunction with the re-opening of the galleries, the Rambut Mulia Rasulullah SAW gallery will be open from December 12 to 18 except on Friday, December 16.

On this note, the acting director also advised the public to dress modestly covering their aurat for Muslims while non-Muslims will be provided robes during the visit.

Lockers will also be provided to keep their personal belongings including mobile phones and cameras as taking photos are not allowed inside the galleries.

Entrance tickets can be obtained at the BKISHHB counter.

For Brunei citizens and permanent residents, tickets are priced at BND3 for children aged six to 12, while for adults aged 13 to 59 is BND5. For senior citizens aged 60 and above the ticket are priced at BND4.

Visiting persons with different abilities aged 13 and above a ticket will be charged BND4, and for those aged six to 12 a ticket is priced at BND2.

For non-residents, tickets for children aged six to 12 are BND6 while for adults aged 13 and above, tickets are priced at BND10.

Entrance is free for visitors aged five and below. Operating hours are from 9am to 5pm daily, except on Friday when the gallery is closed.

On Tuesday, the BKISHHB held a briefing at the BKISHHB auditorium about the re-opening of galleries with the Tourism Development Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism as well as travel agents.

The briefing was part of the efforts in sharing information and coordination for the preparation of re-opening of the exhibition galleries.

The briefing was delivered by the acting director followed with a dialogue session with 24 representatives from 15 registered travel agencies under the Tourism Development Department. Participants also toured the exhibition galleries along with facilities that will be opened to the public.
