    Raya illuminates Penang roads

ANN/THE STAR – Travelling along Jalan Masjid Negeri in Batu Lanchang, Penang in Malaysia during the night is poised to be a heightened pleasure after the instalment of more than 1,000 vibrant lanterns to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

These lanterns, adorned in green and yellow hues, are crafted into two distinct shapes: ketupat and crescent moon with a star.

According to Seri Delima assemblyman Connie Tan Hooi Peng, the lantern installation was executed gradually and completed just in time for Hari Raya. She further stated that the lanterns will be illuminated nightly for approximately a month.

“Local property management company DS Asia Group sponsored the installation of the lanterns, which amounted to MYR82,000.

“This initiative (to instal the lanterns) aims to promote unity and celebrate Malaysia’s diverse cultural traditions, embodying the spirit of a prosperous nation,” said Tan after a site inspection last week.
