Brunei Darussalam is currently in the southwest monsoon which will typically persist until September, said the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) in a statement.
During southwest monsoon, atmospheric conditions over the Sultanate tend to be stable with minimal thunderstorms compared to the inter-monsoon period. The winds will generally be blowing from the southwest direction during this period.
However, weather conditions are forecasted to be active in the next few days starting today until Saturday night with occasional heavy gusty showers affecting many areas of the country. Wind speed may reach up to 45 kilometres per hour during or near heavy showers. Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally slight, below one metre.
The public is urged to take extra precaution during active weather conditions and are advised to be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by the department.
