Some 48 Human Resources Society (HRS) members comprising Human Resources (HR) professionals from public and private sectors across the Sultanate attended a learn and connect session on ‘Humanising HR’ at the Mutiara Hall, Radisson Hotel recently.
The event was brought by HRS as a collaborative effort with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) for the second time since August 2022.
Among those attending was Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee.
The event commenced with opening remarks by HRS Founder and President Hajah Zainab MA Omar, Chartered FCIPD, HR Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP).
The event started with an info-sharing session by HRS members Saifullah Jamil and Hana Som on their visit to Singapore attending the 11th Annual HR Global Conference followed by a presentation on the subject of well-being by Chartered FCIPD, Regional Head APAC, CIPD May Leng Kwok. She shared trends in well-being and links employee experience as well as a corporate shift to prioritise people sustainability by nurturing the appropriate culture.
The main event was a panel session with five senior HR professionals – Hajah Zainab, May Leng Kwok, Jerudong Park Medical Centre and Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre HR Manager Genevieve Yee, Baiduri Bank Group Deputy Head Group HR and Head of Organisational Development Learning Chiam Chin Huei and Progresif Sdn Bhd Chief HR and Administration Officer Mohammad Yazdi bin Haji Yahya. HR professional and HRS Secretary Fadli M Zaini moderated the session.
The panel session addressed the current and ongoing topic nationally and globally on how to manage one’s well-being, how to create a psychologically safe space to grow and designing a support system to ensure resilience and competitiveness while running day-to-day jobs in the business of managing people and showing duty of care for people.
The event closed with the presentation of certificates of appreciation by Hajah Zainab to the panel speakers.
