Promoting volunteerism among the communities

The Youth and Sports Department held a series of briefings for grassroots leaders in the Belait District starting yesterday in preparation for the upcoming Day of Action (DOA) 2023 campaign.

The briefings included introduction to the DOA movement, which is celebrated every December 5, to promote volunteerism not only among the youth but also the wider community.

Mukim penghulus and village heads attended the morning session, while representatives from government agencies attended in the afternoon.

Assistant Senior Officer of the Belait District Branch of the Youth and Sports Department Dayangku Hasmaranah binti Pengiran Hassan delivered the briefings at the Kelahi Hall of the Mumong Sports Complex.

The briefings also touched on the nine activities encouraged to be held as part of DOA 2023: animal rights; arts and creativity; community; disaster relief; education; green initiative; social entrepreneurship; spiritual and religious; and youth development.

The activities aim to foster unity among the communities in the Sultanate in working towards a singular goal.

The briefings concluded with question and answer sessions, and will continue tomorrow for youth associations in the morning and the private sector in the afternoon.

The DOA 2023 activities will run from December 10, 2023 to January 31, 2024. – Daniel Lim
