Programme empowers scholarship recipients

The Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Department of Scholarship Management held the opening ceremony for the Jati Diri Berkat programme yesterday for students awarded with His Majesty’s Government Overseas Scholarship and Education Loan Assistance Scheme (SBPP) for 2023/2024 academic session at main hall of the ministry and Menglait Secondary School.

Ninety-six students participated. Among them 60 recipients of His Majesty’s Government Overseas Scholarship to study first degree abroad; 21 recipients of His Majesty’s Government Overseas Scholarship to study professional and master’s degree levels; and 15 students under the SBPP, MoE. Department of Scholarship Management Acting Senior Special Duties Officer Rosimah Sumaimah binti Haji Matassim, the guest of honour, officiated.

The programme will be held for five days and incorporates briefings, activities and knowledge-sharing sessions such as life skills, confidence, leadership, strengthening the aqidah and understanding of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).

The programme’s aim is to shape the students’ personality or identity with leadership qualities, resilience and independence when studying abroad.

It emphasises instilling a sense of gratitude within the students for the opportunity provided by the government through the MoE.
