The first monthly Tamu Ria Sungai Liang at Sungai Liang Recreational Park after restrictions were lifted focussed on locally made products including food and drinks, as well as handicrafts to further develop the economy of the village and the nation as a whole, Acting Penghulu of Mukim Liang and Village Head of Kampong Sungai Liang Mohammad Haszrin bin Bagol said.
Mohammad Haszrin said the tamu helps to further reinvigorate Kampong Sungai Liang, especially after the fallout from the global pandemic.
The Village Consultative Council of Kampong Sungai Liang (MPK Sungai Liang) organised the first monthly Tamu Ria Sungai Liang at Sungai Liang Recreational Park yesterday.
Acting Belait District Officer Mohamad Yassin bin Haji Ahmed officiated tamu ria which saw 23 spaces open to residents and entrepreneurs with booths selling local food, drinks, and homegrown produce; to fun games and activities.
Mohammad Haszrin said with the positive reception and all open spaces being occupied on the first day, the MPK Sungai Liang plans to conduct the tamu ria monthly.
The acting Belait district officer sounded the gong to officially open the event. He later toured the booths and the stalls.
