Babu-Nya is back this Ramadhan, and the family is growing. For two seasons, Nora, the matriarch, had tried to keep her family of five together despite Melati, her husband’s ex-wife constant interruptions.

Soto Babu-Nya’ seems to be on the upswing now that her narrative continues. Babu-Nya has been labeled as the fasting month’s ‘go-to’ sitcoms for many.

According to the Bulletin, “the series’ quick wit, sense of humour, and the chemistry between its cast members have captivated the hearts of fans young and old alike”.

The sitcom always has heart and humour, especially when confronting national concerns.

Babu-Nya is a uniquely Bruneian episodic, born out of the nation’s COVID-19 pandemic phase and became an overnight sensation. This OOPs! original is directed by Brunei’s filmmaker Siti Kamaluddin who is also the sitcom’s producer.

Mimi Rahzia’s return to the Bruneian screens was aided by her part as Babu-Nya. Who’s coming back this time? The third season will see Nora’s family of five – Mimi Rahzia, Shafiee Mostar, Ian Zullkifli, Umi Raudhah, and Farrah Majid along with their devoted employee Saufi, portrayed by Amir Rashid, as well as Yusoff’s intrusive ex-wife Melati, played by Norhayatie Jamil.

But this season will introduce more supporting characters to expand the family.

“The newly introduced supporting cast will bring a little spice to Nora’s household,” said Siti Kamaluddin. “Along with a lot of laughs, viewers can expect a hint of romance and maybe a little bit of rivalry between the characters.”

Babu-Nya will air Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays on OOPs! YouTube channel throughout the month of Ramadhan.
