Pimping co-accused denies charges, trial set for December

A 35-year-old Bangladeshi national, Md Ataur Rahman is set to face trial in December, after denying charges of abetting prostitution framed by Prosecutor Ahmad Firdaus bin Mohammad.

Magistrate Abdul ‘Azim bin Othman fixed the dates on Tuesday.

Md Ataur Rahman is accused of helping Oranee Suila, a 53-year-old Thai woman, procure clients for three Thai women involved in prostitution in Brunei. Suila, who has pleaded guilty to charges of living off the earnings of prostitution, has already been sentenced to two years in prison.

She admitted to arranging prostitution services for the women and collecting a portion of their earnings.

One of the women serviced approximately 120 clients over several months, with Suila receiving part of the payments.

Rahman’s trial is scheduled for December 2 to 14. – Fadley Faisal
