The Royal Photo Exhibition of Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam was launched at the Galeri Seni, Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja on Monday.
The exhibition, organised by the Museums Department, in collaboration with The High Commission of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, marked the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.
About 55 photos are showcased at the exhibition, highlighting the camaraderie and the friendly relations between the royal family members of the two countries.
Acting Director of Museums Pengiran Haji Rosli bin Pengiran Haji Halus, in his capacity as the chairperson of the organising committee, said he hoped that this exhibition will be able to showcase the close relationship between the two countries.
He noted that the ties between the two nations not only had Malay and Islamic roots, but also from a historical relationship that had been established for hundreds of years.
“Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, as countries of the Malay Archipelago, share similar civilization, royal institutions, culture, language and religion. Both countries have also enjoyed an ongoing network of cooperation in various fields, including trade, defence, security and education since establishing diplomatic relations four decades ago,” he said.
Permanent Secretary (Politics and International Organisation) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pengiran Norhashimah binti Pengiran Mohd Hassan, officiated the launch of the exhibition.
The exhibition is open to the public until November 7, 2024 and is open from Saturdays to Thursdays from 9am to 5pm. – LYNA MOHAMAD
