The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam commemorated the 126th Philippine Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony at its premises in the Diplomatic Enclave on Wednesday.
The ceremony was attended by Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Marian Jocelyn R Tiro-Ignacio and Philippine House of Representatives member Jose Manuel F Alba. Embassy staff and members of the Filipino community residing in Brunei also attended the event.
In addition to the flag hoisting, the ceremony featured the laying of a wreath in honor of the Philippines’ national hero and the planting of a time capsule, set to be opened in 40 years. The event also marked the launch of a book celebrating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines. – JAMES KON
