The Brunei Darussalam National Badminton Association (PBKBD) and Paralympic of Brunei Darussalam Council received a subsidised airline ticket and accommodation for Md Zuno Kartono bin Haji Ali and Haji Md Rudy Izman bin Haji Badar to attend a course and training camp.
Haji Md Rudy Izman is also set to take part in a paralympic badminton tournament in Manama, Bahrain.
Present to bid them farewell yesterday was President of PBKBD Pengiran Haji Hamzah bin Pengiran Haji Mohamad and Acting President of Brunei Paralympic Council, Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor.
While in Bahrain, Md Zuno will conduct a three-day Badminton World Federation (BWF) Para Coaching Course and a training camp for para-badminton coaches and players from developing countries.
Meanwhile, Haji Md Rudy Izman will participate in the Wheel Chair 1 (WH1) category of the International Paralympic Badminton Tournament hosted by Bahrain Paralympic Committee and Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation from May 16 to 22.
The tournament will see six categories contested – WH1, WH2, Standing Lower 3 (SL3), SL4, Standing Upper 5 (SU5) and Standing Stature (SH6).
The tournament serves as a platform of opportunity for para badminton athletes to collect points to be qualified in the BWF Para Badminton World Championship 2022 and Paralympic Games 2024 in Paris.
