Overseas researchers join scientific committee meeting

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) hosted the sixth scientific committee meeting as the Chair and Secretariat of the International Consortium of Universities for the Study of Biodiversity and the Environment (iCUBE) at the Integrated Sciences Building, UBD on November 15.

The meeting brought together researchers from Monash University, the National University of Singapore, and UBD, with Assistant Vice Chancellor (Global Affairs) Dr Joyce Teo Siew Yean presiding as the Chair and iCUBE Secretariat Head and Global Relations Deputy Director Dr Mohammad Khairul Zarifi bin Haji Awang Masri co-Chairing.

Central to the agenda was a forward-looking discussion on the prospective trajectory and initiatives of iCUBE.

Among the key deliberations were proposals for establishing new research groups within iCUBE and envisioning the creation of the iCUBE Global Classroom for biodiversity, environment, and sustainability.

The meeting also explored plans for student and staff exchanges, immersive field expeditions, and an International Conference aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), slated for 2024.
