Over 800 vehicles inspected, 32 violations recorded

A number of road traffic violations were recorded during a joint road block operation at KM49.5 Tutong/Telisai highway heading towards Telisai on Monday.

A total of 32 violations were recorded from 874 vehicles that were inspected.

From 32 violations, 20 violations were issued with compound fines for offences such as illegal modifications, bald tyres, usage of shades or shade plastic films, driving unsafe vehicles and using personal vehicles for commercial purposes without permit.

Meanwhile, the remaining 12 violations fell under the Land Transport Department (LTD) such as driving with expired licences or expired road tax, faulty or expired speed limit warning devices, driving without valid licence as well as those driving overloaded vehicle.

The joint operation was manned by personnel from Tutong Police station of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) as well as LTD under Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications.

The RBPF will continue to work together with enforcement agencies in conducting operation to raise awareness on the importance of complying with the rules and regulation of Road Traffic Act.
