A total of 471 graduates of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) were celebrated in Khatam Al-Quran and Doa Kesyukuran ceremonies at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampong Kiarong on Thursday in conjunction with the 12th Hafl al-Takharruj.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, followed with the recitation of Surah Duhaa to Surah An-Nas by UNISSA graduates.
The event continued with the recitation of Takhtim by UNISSA students and concluded with the recitation of Doa Khatam by a graduate of the Bachelor’s Programme in Islamic Economics and Finance Abdul Mu’in bin Haji Abdul Hamid.
Assistant chancellors, principal officers, deputy deans/directors and parents/guardians were present at the annual event organised in conjunction with UNISSA’s Hafl Al-Takharruj to cultivate the reading of Al-Quran among students in line with the country’s desire to make Brunei Darussalam a Zikir Nation and to encourage the involvement of male and female students in religious activities as a daily practice. – Azlan Othman
