Operation uncovers five labour violations

Five offences under the Employment Order 2009 were detected in Kampong Jangsak during ‘Operasi Kelinga 193/2023’ conducted by the Law Enforcement Division at the Labour Department recently.

The offences were: failure to provide emergency equipment; failure to obtain permission for the workplace; and failure to reorganise the placement of additional workers; hiring foreign workers without licences from the Labour Commissioner; and violating the conditions of the foreign worker recruitment licence.

If found guilty, the employers are each liable to a compound fine of BND600 for the first offence and BND900 for the second offence. A third offence or failure to settle the fine will be settled in court.

The Labour Department also reminded employers to abide by the Employment Order 2009.

Employers are advised not to misuse the foreign worker licence and violate the act under the Employment Order 2009.
