The Ministry of Education (MoE) will only allow kindergarten centres able to safely accommodate 80 per cent capacity to do so, said Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman at a press conference yesterday.
He said this in response to public concern on the move to increase the capacity of kindergarten centres, which will begin tomorrow.
The minister said the MoE, through the Department of Private Education, has been monitoring the kindergarten centres which have been following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in preparation for the increase in capacity.
“I applaud the centres for adhering to the guidelines and SOPs. I hope they will continue to cooperate with us,” said the minister.
Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah said the MoE can only grant permission to kindergarten centres that are fully prepared for the increase in capacity.
“It is not a must for all kindergarten centres to increase their capacity for face-to-face learning. But the ministry, through the Department of Private Education, is only granting permission to those who are capable of doing so safely,” said the minister.
