The majority of the COVID-19 infection cases in Brunei are from the Omicron variant, meaning that those who were previously infected with the Delta variant and have been recently re-infected would have been due to Omicron, said Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the Ministry of Health Dr Ang Swee Hui during a press conference yesterday.
“It was also found that individuals who had been infected with COVID-19 in the past or have been vaccinated and boosted faced less serious ailments compared to those who were not,” said the deputy permanent secretary.
Dr Ang added that the government encourages everyone to take their vaccination booster dose, especially if more than three months have passed since their second shot, adding that vaccination centres are open for walk-ins.
