Following the arrival of the Automac Multiresources Sdn Bhd’s Large Offshore Construction Support Vessel, Khalifa (pic below), a launching and Doa Selamat ceremony was held at Muara Port yesterday. Attorney General Dato Seri Paduka Haji Ahmad bin Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa officiated the launching.

“We are determined to lead by example and to optimise local spin-offs: starting with the acquisition of Khalifa by making her a 100-per-cent locally owned asset, allowing us to focus towards local workforce development, local vendor development and targetted in-country maintenance, repair and overhauls,” said Automac Multiresources Managing Director Haji Musa bin Haji Adnin in his welcoming remarks.

A DP3 Vessel, constructed with the capability of carrying 310 passengers, is equipped with a 400T crane, which Automac took delivery this year and underwent major reactivation and modification to comply with requirements.

Khalifa is also equipped with high quality European made technologies onboard such as Wartsila package for diesel engines, azimuth thrusters, bow thrusters and retractable thruster while the vessel’s DP systems are from Kongsberg, which provides a proven and reliable support in offshore environment.

Automac looks forward to further developing its capability and strengthening their reputation in providing consistent delivery of quality products and services to Brunei’s oil and gas industry through Khalifa and other possible future contracts, said the managing director.

A member of the Adinin Group of Companies incorporated 40 years ago as a marine services company, Automac Multiresources is also committed to enhance the Brunei Government’s in-country value efforts.

Following the launching, and cake-cutting ceremony, the attorney general and guests toured the vessel.
