Nuzul Al-Quran is an important platform that strengthens Islamic values in Brunei Darussalam, said Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
The minister said this in his welcoming remarks during the National Level Nuzul Al-Quran Celebration for 1446 Hijrah yesterday.
The minister added that the celebration reinforces the nation’s identity as one that upholds and practices Islam rahmatan lil’aalamiin – Islam as a mercy to all. The minister also emphasised the importance of societal harmony, which is nurtured through sound reasoning and cooperation, in line with the teachings of Al-Quran.
Quoting verse 2 of Surah Al-Ma’idah, he underscored the call for mutual assistance in goodness and piety while avoiding wrongdoing and enmity.
The minister also expressed gratitude for the occasion and extended prayers for His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s well-being and continued leadership.
The event, jointly organised by the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, the MABIMS Centre for Al-Quran Studies and Dissemination and imagine Sdn Bhd, carried the theme ‘Akal Sihat Dengan Al-Quran’ (Healthy Mind with Al-Quran).
The celebration served as a reminder of the role of Al-Quran in guiding individuals and the nation towards balanced progress while preserving its sovereignty and Islamic principles. – Fadley Faisal
