Forty-seven surf casters from across the nation gathered at the beachfront of the Liang Lumut Recreational Club (LLRC) to compete.
Organised by the Village Consultative Council (MPK) of Kampong Lumut II in collaboration with the LLRC, the competition marked various annual activities that have since been restarted this year with the lifting of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Participants competed in three separate categories, including the fastest surf caster to catch fish, heaviest fish caught, and most fish caught.
Guest of honour, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib was welcomed to the venue by Acting Village Head of Kampong Lumut II Haji Khairdon bin Haji Dahlan.
Haji Khairdon said the gathering of surf casters aimed to strengthen ties among the community sharing the same passion, while also served to further enliven the weekends.
The guest of honour also visited booths and stalls set up as part of LLRC’s three-day-long Makan Santai event, featuring local vendors selling beverages and food.
A silat performance also enlivened the event.
Acting Penghulu of Mukim Liang and Village Head of Kampong Sungai Liang Haszrin bin Bagol and General Manager of LLRC Haji Abdul Ghani bin Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Salleh attended.
