Prosecutors yesterday entered a ‘nolle prosequi’ in a murder case against a local couple linked to the death of an Indonesian woman in Kuala Belait.

Senior Magistrate Azrimah Abdul Rahman discharged Hassan bin Yussof and Rosnani binti Tanga following Deputy Public Prosecutor Rozaimah Abdul Rahman’s application, carrying a nature of discharge not amounting to acquittal. The court also discharged the defendants’ bail bonds following the application by defence counsels Roy Prabhakaran and Kamal Shaari of Messrs Yusof Halim and Partners who sought for it.

The defendants were earlier charged with murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, of the 37-year-old woman who was found unconscious in a pool of blood at a house in STKRJ Kampong Mumong, Jalan Derma Wangsa, Kuala Belait, between 6am and 8am on October 10, 2020.

In the course of the case, the defendants were individually granted bail in the sum of BND100,000 or two local sureties with conditions attached.

Forensic analysis had also been conducted in gathering evidence for the case.
